My Windows update manager is telling me that there are updates ready to be installed but when I try and install them, all 14 fail and I get the error code 80040155.
I have been on other forums and tried ou their advice to other users which was to go into: Start; All Programs; Accessories; right click Command Prompt; select Run as Administrator and then enter the code regsrv32 wmp.dll This did absolutely nothing as the
computer told me no such command existed.
I also tried downloading 'Registry Mechanic' which also did nothing and asked me to sign up for a full version before it would fix the problems - typical! : )
Any help with this much appreciated as I am definitely no expert!!!!

Which version of Windows is installed on your computer?
You may try to reset the Windows Update components, download the Microsoft fix-it from the link and run the wizard which automatically resets the windows update
components, if this does not work, I recommend that you reset the windows update components manually from the link:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/971058
If this does not help you may try to download the updates from the link given below using the KB Article given along with the updates and try installing
them manually and check if that works fine.
