讀者詢問小編,「阿宅」、「宅宅」、「宅男」、「宅女」......用英文形容一個人「很宅」要怎麼說?
Interestingly enough, there is only one word ( ) in Chinese to describe this culture, while in English there are generally three: nerd, geek and dork. There are subtle differences in the meaning of each—a dork isn’t necessarily a nerd, and a nerd isn’t necessarily a geek, in other words.
相當有趣的是,中文形容這種文化只用了一個字,而英文通常要用三個字:
nerd (呆子)、 geek (怪人)、 dork (笨蛋) 每個字的意義都有細微的差別──換句話說, dork 不見得是 nerd nerd 不見得是 geek

NERD (n.)
a person who is studious, usually overly so. Basically, someone academically minded, often in an annoying way. The adjective is nerdy .
NERD (名詞) :好學的人,而且通常是過分好學。基本上就是專注於學業的人,並常常因此令人討厭。形容詞是「nerdy」。
GEEK (n.)
a person who is knowledgeable about and, indeed, obsessed with, certain things most people know little about. Examples include electronics, dead languages, and comic books. The adjective is geeky .
GEEK (名詞) :這種人熟知大多數人所不了解的特定事物,確切來說則是對此著迷。實例包括電子產品、死的語言、漫畫書。形容詞是「geeky」。
DORK (n.)
a person who is socially awkward. You know, like that guy at the party who tried to tell a story with his hands but accidentally stuck his finger up his nose. The adjective is dorky .
DORK (名詞) :拙於社交的人。你知道,就像是那種在派對上想要用手勢來說個故事,但卻不小心把手指伸進鼻孔裡的人。形容詞是「dorky」。
