1982年江西大学化学系毕业，1985年在中科院大连化物所硕士毕业，1988年中科院大连化物所与日本国北海道大学联合培养博士毕业；曾任大连理工大学教授（1992－1998），美国Northwestern University, Georgia Tech，UC Berkeley以及香港浸会大学的访问科学家或访问教授。1998年4月受聘为清华大学教授。2014年起受聘担任美国化学会 ACS Catalysis 副主编；2009年起受聘担任包括“催化基础研究”、“羰基合成与选择氧化”和“煤转化”等国家重点实验室在内的多个实验室的学术委员会成员。曾任中国化学会催化委员会副主任（2012-2017）等。
研究领域：多相催化化学；
主要学术兴趣：可持续发展学术领域的催化物理化学。
