Im trying to get my SMTP set up and am getting this Error.

SMTP Error: Failed to authenticate on SMTP server with username " <Email address removed by Betty Gui MSFT for privacy> " using 2 possible authenticators. Authenticator LOGIN returned Expected response code 235 but got code "535", with message "535 5.7.3 Authentication unsuccessful [BYAPR04CA0008.namprd04.prod.outlook.com] ". Authenticator XOAUTH2 returned Expected response code 235 but got code "535", with message "535 5.7.3 Authentication unsuccessful [BYAPR04CA0008.namprd04.prod.outlook.com]

I have the fields filled in as follows...

Host: smtp.office365.com

Username: <Email address removed by Betty Gui MSFT for privacy>

From Address: <Email address removed by Betty Gui MSFT for privacy>

From Name: Project Home DIY

Port: 587

From your description, I understand you are setting up SMTP client submission to send email via your device. Based on your situation, I recommend you check the following settings.

1. Change the port number to 25 and view outcome.

2. Whether you have enabled TLS/StartTLS, and whether your device supports TLS 1.2 or above. If not, please use direct send or Office 365 SMTP relay for sending email.

Note: If your device recommends to port 465, it doesn't support SMTP client submission.

If the issue persists, I recommend you can also try to change your password.

In addition, to further analyze your issue, please offer me more information.

1. Set up SMTP client submission with your account on another normal device, does the issue occur?

2. Whether you can add your account to Outlook client correctly, if so, please make sure to enter the same setting as Outlook.

3. Whether other members in your organization also have this issue.
